Ms. Melli Darsa holds a law degree from the University of Indonesia (1990) and a Master of Law degree from Harvard Law School (1994). She has practiced as a lawyer in Indonesia since 1990 and was admitted in 1996 to practice in the State of New York, USA. In addition, Ms. Darsa is a registered lawyer with Bapepam & LK or the Indonesian Capital Markets & Financial Institution Supervisory Agency. Ms. Darsa has working experience in the United States and prior to establishing MDC, was an international partner of a global firm active in Indonesia.
Ms. Darsa has been the responsible attorney for some of the most complex and high profile transactions in Indonesia during the past twelve years. Having grown up primarily in the United States, Switzerland, and Indonesia, Ms. Darsa is able to deal comfortably and equally well with both foreign and Indonesian clients. Her understanding of clients’ expectations has allowed MDC to have excellent working relationships with some of the world’s leading financial institutions as well as some notable Indonesian and foreign blue chip companies.
Her knowledge of legal systems of other countries has also made Ms. Darsa a trusted advisor to the General Counsels of some of the most respected international banks investment banks and other financial institutions active in Indonesia. Having practiced over 21 years also means Ms. Darsa has good connections with many government and regulatory agencies.
Ms. Darsa is a member of PERADI (Indonesian Advocates Association) and HKHPM (Association of Capital Market Legal Consultants).
Ms. Darsa is also the Vice-Chairman of HKHPM specifically in charge of Basic and Continuing Legal Education for the period 2009-2012. Ms. Darsa also has a personal interest in anti-corruption and anti-bribery matters and initiatives (particularly as they relate to rule of law institutions) and is becoming more active in this area.
